New Discussion: A Pro-Bono No-Go! – part 1of 3.

No Go 01

Last year, at a local convention, one of the presenters suggested that the attendees should be more giving of themselves – and of their talents, because this would create for a better world for all of us. In theory this seemed like it would work. So, at the appropriate time people in the audience offered many “gifts” to the other attendees: money, products, services.

Since my company is in the branding business we offered to develop a logo for a conference attendee. The only taker was the presenter who had suggested the gift giving arrangement in the first place.

The presenter had a small social service organization. It seemed a simple gesture on our part to develop a mark for this small organization. Β We met a week after the conference, and within a couple of weeks after that fulfilled our commitment by delivering a logo for his organization. He seemed satisfied – and we encouraged him to have the logo copyrighted and registered. He said that he didn’t have the funds to do so.
