New Discussion: The Perfect Ad!

The perfect advertisement has certain properties:

1)   it connects with the target audience,

2)   it is memorable – and it is easily recalled,

3)   it provides information quickly and succinctly,

4)   it doesn’t confuse the viewer, or make the reader hunt for information, and

5)   it  calls the viewer to action.

Recently Cool Whip has been running an add featuring it’s cake frosting. Maybe you’ve seen it. It starts out showing the ugliest, and most abused cakes we’ve ever seen – wouldn’t want to eat one. The voice over parallels this. The ad is set up as public service announcement about the mistreatment of cakes in our society. The announcer then talks about saving these cakes by using Cool Whip Cake Frosting: “Together we can change the way cakes are frosted.”
