Lewis R. Elin spent most of his working career selling work uniforms and flame resistant safety clothing via direct mail and catalogs. He is a recipient of the DMMA “Direct Mail Spokesman” award and participated in panels and lectured for the DMMA and the DMA.     Can you imagine, this writer has the gaul to suggest that buying is a self interest act!
    Well, he’s right, and it’s high time the advertising world figured that out, and if you
    depend on those that work in this field and they tell you anything different, find someone
    else to take advice from.

    Motivation to do much of anything instinctly comes from deep inside with a need to satisfy
    self. How can you help others load up on satisfaction? If you know the answer to that
    question, then for heaven’s sake, tell your potential customers, tell them now, and tell them
    often. Without that, save your money, you sure won’t be making much!
